Who is a `qualified` Delta Apparel employee?

Recipients may attend any public or private, accredited, two-year or four-year college or university, technical college or vocational institution located in the United States. Recipients must be full-time students and must be working toward a recognized undergraduate degree within the normal two-year or four-year period.

Who is eligible for the scholarship?

Ò    Applicants must be the child or grandchild of a qualified employee of Caraustar Industries, Inc. and its subsidiaries.

Who is defined as a child or grandchild??

What is a "Qualified Employee"?

a).      Continuous employment by Caraustar Industries, Inc. for three years prior to January 1 of the year the student makes application.

b).      A parent/employee or grandparent/employee must be considered full-time and the Caraustar employee must have an adjusted gross income of $125,000 or less as of January 1 of the year in which the student is applying for a scholarship.

c).      If an employee is terminated due to a plant closing the dependent child or grandchild may apply for up to two years after date of plant closing.

d).      Deceased, disabled, or retired employees must have met the three-year criteria before their death, disability or retirement. Dependents can apply for up to two years after death, disability or retirement of the qualified employee.

What is the value of the scholarship award?

Awards are made in an amount up to $6,000 per year. Award amounts are determined by the actual costs at the college, and any other scholarship aid. Awards will not exceed the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies, room and board for undergraduate study, based on individual situations as listed below:

Ò    Funds are available for tuition, fees, supplies, room, board and books for dependent students attending two-year or four-year institutions, and who live on campus.

Ò    Funds are available for tuition, fees, supplies, and books for dependent students who live off campus with their guardians. An additional $600 will be added to the award to help defray commuting costs.

Ò    Funds are available for tuition, fees, supplies and books plus the cost of room and board for independent students who live off campus, but not with their guardians. Room and board costs are determined by the charges at the college for room and board.

Ò    Funds for graduate students are limited to costs of tuition, fees, books and supplies.

You may attend any accredited, public or private institution of high learning; any two-year, four-year or technical college; any vocational training school; or any accredited, public or private graduate school. Hal Reichle took great pleasure in helping others and would do so secretly and serendipitously. In his memory, family and friends funded a scholarship at Hiram College to reward students for their random acts of kindness. Recipients are chosen on the basis of their humanitarian efforts, community involvement, and volunteerism. There is no application for this scholarship. There are two parts to the application process. You must submit the online portion of the scholarship application and then mail in the following additional materials:

2.      Submit a one-page PERSONAL STATEMENT. The personal statement must include your strengths and your most important achievements in school and in your community. You may also include your hobbies, interests, sports, volunteer work, employment, future plans, or career goals.

When is the deadline for submission of applications?

The online portion of the application must be submitted no later than DECEMBER 31, 2010. The additional materials must be submitted by mail in ONE envelope postmarked no later than DECEMBER 31, 2010.

What schools can the recipient attend?

Recipients must attend an accredited FOUR-YEAR, NOT-FOR-PROFIT tax free institution by federal statue 501 (c) (3) INDEPENDENT COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY in the three-state area of Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Locations outside the three-state area will be handled on an individual basis. An independent college is a non-state supported educational institution that is ruled or governed by an individual board of trustees, and that receives a majority of formal financial support from tuition and grants.

How are winners selected?

An independent Scholarship Selection Committee will select the recipients based on academic achievement and scholastic aptitude.

How will I be notified if I am chosen as a recipient?

All winners will be notified by mail.

What is the value of the scholarship award?

Milliken and Company will award up to 3 scholarships in the North Carolina and South Carolina areas. Scholarship amounts will be up to $5,000 each per academic year for undergraduate study only and may be applied to tuition, academic and general fees, books, and room and board.

How will I receive my funds?

Recipients must be enrolled full-time each semester or quarter. Recipients must also submit proof of enrollment and grades each semester. One-half of the award amount will be paid each semester or one-third each quarter. Funds will be made payable to and mailed directly to the college.

Is this scholarship renewable?

Scholarships may be renewable for up to three additional years, or until a bachelor's degree is obtained, which ever is earlier. A GPA falling below a cumulative 2.0 at the end of each academic year will result in permanent loss of the scholarship beginning with the next semester. Recipients must submit a renewal application along with transcript of grades each year in order to be considered for renewal of their scholarships.

Every Wednesday, we celebrate YOUR diversity and uniqueness. We (almost) guarantee that we will find a scholarship that matches your weird, uncommon and possibly bizarre hobbies, dreams, aspirations and skills! If you think you are inhabited by the ghost of Ethel Merman, are into tattooing your vehicle, or spend your weekends dancing to 1940's jazz, Weird Scholarship Wednesday is ALL ABOUT YOU.

 

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF CANDY TECHNOLOGISTS
JOHN KITT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

 

The National Candy Techonologists Scholarship is $5,000.00, paid in two $2,500.00 installments after verification of enrollment.

To qualify for this non-renewing scholarship award, the student must meet the following criteria:

  • College sophomore, Junior or Senior status (in 2010-2011).

 • Have a demonstrated interest in confectionery technology.

                             • Attend an accredited, four-year college or university within North America.

                                 • Be majoring in a food science, chemical science, biological science, or related area.

             • Achieved a 3.0 (out of 4.0) GPA (or equivalent on another scale).

 

Your demonstrated interest in confectionery technology can include many activities including but not limited to research projects, work experience, and formal study.

 Semi-finalists will be selected from these applications. These students will be asked to submit a letter of recommendation.

Stephen "Todd" Reynolds Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school student from Chesnee High School with a minimum 3.0 high school cumulative GPA. Preference is given to a student pursuing a degree in electronics, and financial need is an award requirement.
