The Ricky Hendrick Scholarship Fund
Hendrick Automotive Group is providing scholarships for deserving students. The Center for Scholarship Administration, Inc. (CSA), a non-profit, independent organization is the administrator of the program.
QUESTIONS ANSWERS ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Who is eligible for the scholarship?
Ò Applicants must be high school seniors, high school graduates, or undergraduate students already enrolled in college.
Ò Applicants must be unmarried and under the age of 25.
Ò Applicants must be children of "qualified employees" of the Hendrick organization.
Ò Applicants must demonstrate proof of satisfactory academic progress in school.
Ò Applicants must gain admission to a two-year or four-year college, community college, technical school or established trade school that is accredited by the regional accrediting agency.
What is a "qualified employee"?
"Qualified Employees" are full-time employees of Hendrick dealerships, Hendrick Motorsports, or designated Hendrick affiliated companies who have been continuously employed in the Hendrick organization for three (3) years prior to April 15, 2010. Employees who transfer among Hendrick dealers or affiliated companies will maintain "uninterrupted" service.
Who qualifies as a "child"?
"Children" are defined as natural, adopted, legal guardians or resident stepchildren. The child does not need to be claimed by the Hendrick employee as a dependent for tax purposes.
When does the program start?
When is the deadline for submission of materials?
All materials must be submitted to CSA with a postmark no later than June 15, 2010. All materials must be mailed in ONE envelope. If you applied online and received a confirmation of submission you may send just the additional materials required.
What constitutes a complete application packet?
1. A completed APPLICATION form.
2. Signed TERMS OF AGREEMENT.
3. OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT with grades and cumulative GPA posted through Fall 2009. High School students must submit their SAT/ACT scores if planning to attend a 4 year college.
4. Signed PERSONAL STATEMENT regarding importance of scholarship, college and or career plans.
What is the value of the scholarship award?
In 2010-2011 the Ricky Hendrick Scholarship Fund will offer up to 50 annual scholarships, each with a maximum of $2,500, to "first-time" applicants in addition to the scholarships that are awarded to qualified re-applicants.
The award will be applied to tuition, fees and books. Room and Board are not eligible for expenses.
What college may I attend?
You must be a full time student enrolled at any accredited undergraduate two-year or four-year college, university, community college, technical college or trade school. Transfers are allowed provided the college meets the above criteria. Recipients may pursue whatever field of study they wish.
