Delta Apparel, Inc

Delta Apparel, Inc. is providing scholarships for deserving students.

Who is eligible for the scholarship?
Ò    Applicants must be a high school senior OR currently enrolled as an undergraduate in college.
Ò    Applicants must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Ò    Applicants must be dependent children of a qualified Delta Apparel employee.
Who is a `qualified` Delta Apparel employee?
A qualified Delta Apparel employee is any permanent, active, full-time employee or retired employee of Delta Apparel, Inc. with two years service with the company as of January 1, 2011. Retired employees must have been continuously employed for a period of two years prior to their retirement. Periods of layoffs and leaves of absence will not disqualify an applicant unless such an event has established a new seniority date.

When does the program start?
The applications will be available January 3, 2011.
What constitutes a complete application packet?
1. A completed APPLICATION form.
2. Signed TERMS OF AGREEMENT.
3. OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT with grades and cumulative GPA posted through Fall 2010. If you are a high school senior, you must submit your SAT/ACT scores.
4. Signed LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION from teacher or college professor.
5. Signed PERSONAL STATEMENT write one page explaining why you believe you qualify for this scholarship. Include college and career plans, if known.
6. LIST OF ACADEMIC HONORS, LEADERSHIP POSITIONS, AND COMMUNITY SERVICE.
7. Signed copy of your parent's latest filed Federal Tax Form 1040 (pages one and two only) and W-2 Forms for both parents (if applicable) for the latest year these forms were filed. ** If your parents are separated or divorced, we need the tax forms for both the custodial parent and the Delta Apparel employee (if they are not the same person).
What is the value of the scholarship award?
The scholarship will be in the amount of $1,000 per year. Funds are to be applied to tuition, fees, books, supplies, and room and board.
What college may I attend?
Recipients may attend any public or private, accredited, two-year or four-year college or university, technical college or vocational institution located in the United States. Recipients must be full-time students and must be working toward a recognized undergraduate degree within the normal two-year or four-year period.

The recipient`s school of choice must be exempt from federal income tax under Section 501 (c) (3) of the IRS Code. Funds will not be issued for any scholarship unless the school maintains this exemption.
