QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Who is eligible for the scholarship?
Ò Applicants must be high school seniors or an undergraduate college student already enrolled in a public or private, accredited, two-year or four-year college, university, or technical school.
Ò Applicants must be a dependent child of a qualifying member of GSHRM.
Ò Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Ò Applicants must demonstrate academic merit.
Ò Applicants must demonstrate school and community involvement through extra curricular activities.
What qualifies as a "Dependent Child"?
Dependent children include natural children, adopted children, or resident stepchildren.
Who is "Qualifying Member" of GSHRM?
The qualifying parent must have been a member of GSHSRM for a period of two years prior to January 1 of the year the awards are made.
When does the program start?
The applications will be available November 1, 2010. All materials must be submitted to CSA with a postmark no later than DECEMBER 31, 2010. All materials must be mailed in ONE envelope. If you applied online and received a confirmation of submission you may send just the additional materials required.
What constitutes a complete application packet?
1. A completed APPLICATION form.
2. Signed TERMS OF AGREEMENT.
3. OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT with grades and cumulative GPA posted through FALL 2010.
4. SAT OR ACT SCORES.
5. Signed PERSONAL STATEMENT regarding importance of scholarship, college and/or career plans.
* You must include your name and the name of the scholarship on each page!
* Items not signed will NOT be honored!
What is the value of the scholarship award?
GSHRM will award two scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each. Funds are to be applied to tuition, fees, books and room and board.
What college may I attend?
Recipients may attend any accredited public or private, accredited two-year or four-year college, university or technical college located in the United States. The recipient's school of choice must be exempt from federal tax under Section 501 (c) (3) of the IRS Code.
